Let the games begin.  Starting today we will be having our first annual Scratch Contest.  This year, your job will be to create a Scratch game that gets people to want to eat healthy.   There are two purposes to your game.  One- to get people to understand why it is important to eat healthy foods and  two- to get people to want to play this game over and over again!  You may work in teams or alone.  The due date is May 2, 2011.  Here are the prizes:

1st prize- A very generous gift certificate to the store of your choice for each member of your team, lunch out with Mr. Lahana, and a field trip to Scratch Day 2011 at Columbia University  (limit of 3 members)

2nd prize- A generous gift certificate (not as generous as the 1st prize winner’s) to the store of your choice for each member of your team  and a field trip to Scratch Day 2011 at Columbia University (limit of 3 members)

3rd prize- A bag full of goodies for each member of your team

4th prize- A pat on the back for each member of your team

Here are the rules:

1. You may not re-mix another person’s game (although feel free to be inspired by other Scratch programmer’s ideas).

2. No extreme violence– that means no weapons, blood, or fighting.

3. You must be prepared to “pitch” your idea on May 2nd….meaning a short presentation on why your game should be chosen.
