Been watching the news lately?  All over the Middle East citizens have been gathering in BIG GROUPS to protest the way their government is run.  They want more freedom.  One of the ways they organized to meet was through the Internet and cell phones.  In response, some of the countries who have protestors are turning off the Internet and sending in their armies to stop the protestors.  Here are some questions to answer in your blog– choose one or all if you want :)

1.  Why should people have right to public assembly (to gather in one place for a reason)?

2. How exactly do you think technology helped protestors in the Middle East to assemble (Hint: think about texting, Facebook and Twitter)?

3.  February is Black History Month.  How did public assembly help the civil rights movement?

4. What would the civil rights movement have looked like if they had the Internet and cell phones?
